Frequently asked questions

What Pasadorsal is, how to transfer or get a bib, what happens if something goes wrong and what we offer race organisers. Everything that works today.

The basics

What is Pasadorsal?

A website for passing race bibs between runners for popular races. If you can't run, you post your bib; if you're looking for one, you reserve it; and the change of name goes through the race organiser's official process.

Is it legal to transfer a bib?

Yes, when the race allows it and it's done through its official process: the bib ends up in the name of the person running, with their own insurance and their own result. If a race doesn't allow changes, we tell you in its guide and it has no listings.

How much does it cost?

Transferring or receiving a bib is free on Pasadorsal. You pay the entry fee to the organiser, plus their change fee, if there is one.

Which races does it work for?

Running races in Spain. Every race has its own guide with the official process, deadlines and costs, even if there are no bibs yet.

Why do some races have listings and others don't?

Because every organiser handles bib changes their own way. In bib-transfer races, the person transferring gives a code or sends a link, and the new runner registers and pays the organiser: those have listings and a queue. If the race has an official resale, we send you to its website; if it's non-transferable, we tell you whether your entry has cancellation insurance. Protected purchase, for races with a direct change between runners, is coming later.

Do I need an account?

Not to browse. To post, reserve or join the queue, yes: you sign in with Google or with a link or code we email you, no passwords. You must be 18 or over.

Why not just buy the bib on a forum or a WhatsApp group?

Because there you often pay the seller and run on someone else's bib, with no insurance and against the race rules. Here you don't pay anyone anything: the bib goes into your name through the organiser, and if something goes wrong there's a process to raise it.

I'm looking for a bib

How do I get a bib?

Find your race and reserve one of its listings. If there aren't any, tap «Notify me» and you'll join the queue: we'll offer you one before anyone else as soon as it comes up.

How does the «Notify me» queue work?

Each new bib is offered exclusively, first come, first served. Nobody has two turns at once: if one comes up while you already have another, it moves on to the next person and reaches you when yours ends. After that it's published for everyone and we let the rest of the queue know. At night no turns are opened: the one already open runs until it ends and whatever is left to offer waits until 8:00. Meanwhile you can see the bib and the time your turn would come.

Do you only notify me by email?

Always by email. If you have the website open, you'll also see it straight away without reloading: a yellow strip at the top, the number on «Alerts» and a notice at the bottom. If you connect our Telegram bot in Settings › Alerts, you'll get it there too, with the race, the end time and the link. When you join the queue you can also ask for a daily email with bibs from similar races.

What if I can't respond to a turn?

Missing one is fine. If you let several turns in a row expire without responding, you move to the back of the queue. Tapping «Skip turn» doesn't count against you, and nor do turns that expire at night.

I've reserved a bib. What now?

You have a few hours to give us your details, the ones the organiser needs for the change. From then on, the person transferring has a few hours to give you a code or send a link to your email. You register on the official website, pay the organiser the price of your tier and upload the confirmation: the bib is yours. We email you at every step and the website tells you what you need to do next.

How long do I have to redeem the code or link?

At least a few hours from when you receive it, but never after the race's official change deadline, because after that the organiser no longer accepts it. If the organiser gives less time, the person transferring has to confirm it and you'll see it in your step; if you can't make it in that short window, the transaction is closed with no one at fault. With the full window, if you don't redeem it, you lose the bib and it counts as a strike.

Do I pay anything to the person giving me the bib?

No, never. The entry fee is paid to the organiser. If anyone asks you for money on the side, don't pay it and let us know.

Can I talk to the person transferring the bib?

Yes, through the listing's chat. To protect you both, the chat hides phone numbers, emails, links and mentions of off-platform payments (Bizum, bank transfers, cash…).

Can I change my mind after reserving?

No: between private individuals there's no right of withdrawal, and a reservation is a commitment. If in the end you can't run, you post the bib again. There's only one exception: if the race changes date before you receive the code or link, either of you can cancel with no one at fault. You can only have one open reservation per race.

Until when can I reserve?

Until shortly before the race's official change deadline. From then on listings expire, so there's time to make the change. Each race's deadlines are in the calendar, always in Spanish mainland time. We take the deadline from the article of the race rules that covers the change of name; if we're still checking it, the race is on hold: nothing can be posted or reserved, but you can join the queue. If someone tells us the organiser no longer allows the change, the race stays open while we check.

I can't run

How do I post my bib?

Choose the race, upload your entry receipt and add anything that helps whoever's looking: T-shirt size, start pen or price tier. Before posting, log in to your runner area with the organiser and check it still lets you request the change of name: we'll ask you to confirm it with a tick box. If the entry was made by a travel agency, your club or a relative, tell us when you post: that person is the one who requests the change from the organiser and receives any refund. Posting is free and only possible in races that allow bib transfers.

When can everyone see it?

If the race has a queue, it's first offered in turns to those waiting, and on the listing you can see the latest time it will go public. During the day, if nobody is in the queue, it's published straight away. At night no turns are opened, so the queue doesn't miss its chance while asleep: if you post at night, it waits until 8:00 even if the queue is empty (in case someone joins); if you post shortly before, the open turn runs until it ends and the rest wait until 8:00. The night doesn't count towards that time, and before you post we show you which turns are waiting and when it'll go public. While it's waiting you can withdraw it and, if it hasn't been offered to anyone yet, edit it.

Do I get paid anything?

Pasadorsal doesn't charge or pay anything in a bib transfer: whoever receives your bib pays their entry fee to the organiser. What happens to your original entry depends on the race rules. Never accept payments on the side; the chat blocks them.

Someone has reserved my bib. What do I need to do?

Wait for them to give their details. Once they have, you have a few hours to generate the code on the official website or send the link to their email, and mark it as delivered. To see their details we ask you to have signed in recently: that way nobody who borrows your phone can see them.

What if the person who reserved doesn't give their details?

They have a few hours to do it. If they don't, the reservation expires and your bib goes back on sale automatically, without you doing anything; that person can't reserve it again.

What if the organiser gives less time to redeem?

If the redemption window is under a few hours, we warn you when you deliver and you have to confirm it. If they can't redeem in that short window, the transaction is closed with no one at fault.

What if the person who reserved doesn't redeem the code?

The transaction is closed and your listing is paused, because they may actually have registered. We email you and you can post it again in one click if you confirm you're still the entry holder.

What happens if I don't deliver in time?

The reservation is cancelled, it counts as a strike and the listing is withdrawn. If something stops you (for example, the organiser's website isn't working), write to us via Contact Pasadorsal before the deadline.

What if my runner area no longer lets me request the change?

Let us know from the race guide, the posting form or your transaction. We'll check and, if needed, close new listings. Meanwhile posting and reserving carry on, and we review anything already under way one by one.

Can I withdraw my listing?

Yes, whenever you like, as long as nobody has reserved it. Listings expire automatically at the race cut-off, shortly before the official change deadline.

If something goes wrong

The code or link doesn't work. What do I do?

Open a dispute from the transaction. Deadlines are frozen, each side provides their evidence (screenshots, emails from the organiser) and the Pasadorsal team reviews it. In a bib transfer you haven't paid anyone anything, so there's no money at stake.

How long does a dispute last?

a few days at most. If in that time there's no evidence from the organiser showing what happened, the transaction is cancelled without penalising anyone.

What evidence counts in a dispute?

The organiser's (an email or a screenshot from their platform saying what happened with the change), once the Pasadorsal team has verified it. It isn't enough for one side to say they have it.

Who can open a dispute?

Both sides. The person receiving the bib can do it once they've been given the code or link; before that there's no need, because if the person transferring doesn't deliver within a few hours the reservation is cancelled automatically. There can only be one open dispute per transaction.

What if the race is cancelled?

Its listings and queue are frozen, and any transactions that weren't completed are closed. We'll email you.

What if the race changes date?

Nothing is cancelled. Listings are paused until the person transferring confirms that, with the new date, they can still request the change; if they don't within a week, they're withdrawn automatically, with no one at fault. The queue keeps everyone's places. If you had a transaction that hadn't been delivered, either of you can cancel it with no one at fault until delivery. The guide shows the new date and what the organiser offers anyone who can't make it (moving to another edition, a refund…). We'll email you.

What if the organiser asks us not to list their race?

We take it down within 24 h: it no longer has listings and the guide only explains the official process. Bib transfers where the code has already been delivered carry on until they finish; the rest are closed with no one at fault.

What if the website goes down or is under maintenance?

If the outage lasts at least 5 minutes, any deadlines that were running are extended by however long it lasted, and nothing expires in the meantime. A shorter outage doesn't move them. The 10-minute payment hold isn't extended, and anything already covered by maintenance isn't added again.

I've seen something odd. How do I report it?

From the listing itself, the message, the review or the profile of whoever posted it. The team reviews it and can remove it or block the account.

For race organisers

Why is our race on Pasadorsal?

Because some runners can't make it and others are looking for a bib, and we'd rather they find each other through the official route than in a WhatsApp group. The race guide only includes public information from your rules: how the change of name works, the deadlines and the costs.

Do you need our permission?

In bib-transfer races we open listings and let you know by email, without waiting for a reply: the change and the payment still go through your platform. If you'd rather we weren't there, we take the race down within 24 h. Any way of charging through Pasadorsal in the future will only happen with your written confirmation.

What's in it for you?

Every bib changes hands through your process: the runner is insured and appears under their own name in the results. Fewer bibs are run by someone else and you get fewer questions about how to transfer an entry. And, if you want it, an official waiting list ready to use.

Do you charge runners anything?

No. Bib transfers are free on Pasadorsal and the entry fee is paid to you, through your platform, with your change fee if there is one.

Do you touch our entries?

No, and we don't access your platform. Runners make the change through your process, as always: the person transferring generates the code or sends the link and the person receiving it registers with you.

What if our race doesn't allow changes?

We mark it as non-transferable: it only has the guide, no listings. If you have an official resale, we link to it.

What is the official waiting list?

Your race's queue on Pasadorsal, turned into your waiting list. When a place frees up, you publish it in your dashboard with a single-use registration code or link and it's offered straight away, in turns, first come, first served. Each turn lasts as long as you decide, from 15 minutes to 72 hours (24 hours if you don't say). Whoever accepts registers and pays on your platform, and you mark it as used or as «not used». If it wasn't used, it moves on to the next person with a new code, or with the same one if you confirm you cancelled the previous one: whoever accepted it has already seen it. On race day the list closes automatically.

What if there's nobody left on the list?

The place is left «unfilled» and we let you know. If someone new joins the list while the code is still valid, we offer it to them without you having to do anything. If you've already given it out another way, withdraw it in the dashboard so it isn't offered. On race day the list closes automatically.

What runner data do you see?

Only the name and email of whoever accepts a place, so you can check their registration. For the rest of the list, just numbers. Every runner gives their explicit consent when joining the official list.

What do we need to open it?

An organiser account (we create it and you invite your team) and signing the GDPR data processing agreement with the terms in the dashboard. If you prefer, it can be signed on paper.

How much does the official waiting list cost?

Nothing for your first edition with Pasadorsal. If the terms ever change, we'll give you 60 days' notice, and they'll never change on a list that's already open.

Can we put it on our website?

Yes. There's a widget you paste into the race website with one line of code. It shows whether the list is open, the places released and filled, and a button to sign up, with no cookies or analytics.

And a box for transferring bibs on our website?

Yes, in bib-transfer races: the bib transfer widget. It takes people who can't run to transfer their bib and people looking for one to the queue, showing how many people are waiting and how many bibs are posted. The change and the payment still go through your platform. It doesn't set cookies or use analytics either. With an organiser account you add it from your dashboard; without one, tell us your website's domain and we'll send you the code.

And our runners' data?

It's in the European Union, with no advertising or tracking. The person transferring a bib only sees what's needed for the change, and every lookup is logged.

Something's wrong in our race guide. How do we correct it?

Write to us via Contact Pasadorsal or at hola@pasadorsal.es and we'll change it straight away.

Trust and privacy

How do I know I can trust the person transferring the bib?

Because you don't pay them anything and the bib goes into your name through the organiser. On top of that, every listing comes with the entry receipt, and after each transaction both sides review each other: on each person's profile you can see their reviews and their strikes.

Where is my data?

In the European Union: the server and database in Madrid, files in Frankfurt and an encrypted copy every night with another provider. Emails are sent by a French company, also with the data in the EU.

Who sees my data?

The person transferring you a bib only sees the details they need for the change, and every time they look them up it's logged. We don't ask for your phone number. Change details are deleted after 30 days and the chat 12 months after the transaction closes. In Settings you can download a copy of your data and delete your account.

Are you going to flood my inbox?

No. We email you about your transactions and the turns in the queues you join. You can unsubscribe from notifications in one click, and we don't track whether you open emails or which links you click.

Do you use cookies or advertising?

There's no advertising or third-party analytics. The only cookie is the one that keeps you signed in. Even the bot protection is our own, with no external services.

Why is there no password?

Because a password that doesn't exist can't be stolen. You sign in with Google or with a link or a 6-digit code we email you. For sensitive things (seeing someone else's details, seeing a change code, confirming a transaction) we ask you to have signed in recently.

Who's behind Pasadorsal?

An independent project made in Spain by people who run. The owner's details are in the legal notice.

What's coming

Will there be more features?

Yes, but no dates: first we want what's there to work well. We're working on protected purchase (you'll pay on Pasadorsal and the money will be held until the change is confirmed), mobile notifications so you hear about a turn instantly, an app alongside the website, and other sports once running is up and running.

Something's missing. Where can I suggest it?

Via Contact Pasadorsal or at hola@pasadorsal.es. If your race isn't listed, you can also request it from the website and we'll add it.

Can't find your question?

See the step-by-step process in How it works or write to us: we'll reply on the website and let you know by email.
